(Re)generation of truth

The Work Consists of eighteen slides of Images and Corresponding Textual Evidence, compiled as a scientific experiment log. The Experiment’s primary goal is to reverse the decay process of the human body, with the fusion of botanical specimens. The Experiment is outlandish and misinformed about the actual data, and possibility of the experiment. I wanted to process through my generated imagery, and construct a ‘narrative’ based on the regeneration of the images produced.

I wanted to consider and speak to the idea of bias and false data within a scientific, or medical setting. By presenting a completely fictional report of events that did not transpire, but rather were generated. I wanted to speak to the value of truth within these fields of study and practice. In making the work, what came to mind was the events and misinformation spread during the Covid-19 pandemic, or in the use of vaccines and side effects. I come from an experience of living and caring for someone who relies on medical intervention constantly. Being so familiar with the myths people share about her disease has shown me how harmful this false information can be. I felt there was a juxtaposition with medical misinformation, and data bias in the realm of AI generation. In both fields, there is an immediate need to call attention to how crucial accurate information is needed. Our society can be swayed in an instant by information from seemingly verified sources; truly credible, or not.
