It’s raining.
Like it was when I met you.
Stealing glances over the rims of our mugs; Dreaded coffee breath-
I never really minded.
Rain pitter-pattered on the window; the chill nipping at my nose. The steam rising, espresso delight in
A moment my heart calls home.
I remember and replay
The look in your eyes
And the way you smiled
It’s complicated; bittersweet.
I know under the upward curves in your face is just someone looking for relief.
Hanging on to grief.
We talked about art history
Monet, and DaVinci
Until the coffee shop was about to close.
We left, we parted
And you triped over your shoe
And I laughed; you apolgized
But I never minded.
We left in a daze
in a lovely haze
Falling for you like the rain was falling
Luckily, I forgot an umbrella-
I’m just someone
Remembering
Another someone
From long ago.
